On 1/21/2009 Smithfield Township announced completion of our 911 addressing project. This project will eliminate the rural route address system, coordinating street postal addresses and physical locations. New physical addresses will allow the 911 system to operate more effectively and decrease emergency response time. Smithfield BOS wishes to credit Emergency Response Coordinator Steve Carey and Township Zoning Officer Kenneth Wolfe, who assisted on this endeavor.

6.26.2009 "The Dog Park Expo June 13th was a huge success.  Good weather, vendors and approximately 130 people enjoyed the event .  Joyce Bush and Pat and Joe Coyle were pleased at the comments and contributions.  Pocono Record had pictures and Channel 13 filmed some of the day’s activities.  Pat reported that $1,025 was collected.  Expenses totaled approximately $563. Congratulations to  Joyce Bush and her committee for hard work well done. The artisan well at River's Edge is working.  Ken Miller donated a telephone pole which allowed for electric service to be brought to the well.  Dan Cappa donated the plumbing work required to restore the well and make it operational. .  John Ferro of the Eastern Monroe Regional Park Commission, the volunteer board that oversees the Park and is helping to coordinate the Dog Park, announced thatCarl Putek will contribute $1,000 to the Dog Park in memory of Judy Putek, a staunch advocate for parks and dog and nature lover. Many thanks to Carl.
