Trails Summit a Huge Success!
9.14.2009 Many Thanks to Sharon Laverdure and Scott Dietrich of Parks Commission for a VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT!! Smithfield Townships Park Commission hosted the IMBA/Subaru Trail Care Crew Visit on Thursday, September 10th 2009. In an effort to improve recreational opportunities for kids, active adults & outdoor enthusiasts Waterfront & Mt. Nebo Parks,  Local volunteers attended a "Club Care" seminar, which taught them how to organize, fund and  develop volunteerism for the purpose of creating/maintaining sustainable trails.

Scott Dietrich has participated in the Official Map planning and is committed to safe pedestrian and bicycle routes for both transportation and recreation throughout Smithfield, with links to ESU, East Stroudsburg Boro, and Delaware Water Gap/ Stroud Township. Schedule: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th, 2009
1-2pm – Trail ride @ Mt Nebo Park (Mt. Nebo Rd) for participants
4-6pm – Q & A Session @ Smithfield Twp Municipal Building (Red Fox Rd) Public Welcome.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: East Stroudsburg, PA is one of only 70 sites in the world selected this year to receive a visit from the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew – professional trail experts who travel North
America and beyond year round, leading trail building schools, meeting with government
officials and land managers, and working with bicycle clubs to improve mountain biking
opportunities. This weekend they are working with the MOUNTAIN VALLEY BICYCLES
and the SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP PARK COMMISSION to develop skilled volunteer trail
workers.
